A friend shared this gorgeous picture she took of the beautiful valley my family is blessed to call home! I always love this mist coming off the creek.

Some of you may not know that I am a board member of the North Yakima Conservation District. We are part of the Washington State Conservation Commission. (You may have heard the Commission’s ad on the radio about protecting riparian areas along streams to help insure clean water and provide habitat for wildlife.) Each district is locally lead to reflect the needs and values of their community. One of the biggest concerns rearing its head in recent years is farmland preservation! Once farmland is gone, we can not get it back. Through innovation, American farmers grow more on less but that can only go so far. We must plan land use to meet all our future needs including protecting natural resources, farmland, open spaces, breath taking views along with urban growth and housing.
